Medicines work best when they are stored properly. A few simple habits at home can protect their quality and keep your family safe.
Keep them cool, dry and away from sunlight
Bathrooms and kitchens are often warm and humid. A cool, dry cupboard in a bedroom is usually a better place. Always follow the storage instructions printed on the pack, because some medicines need a refrigerator.
Keep them out of children’s reach
Store all medicines, including vitamins, in a high place or a locked box. Never describe medicine as sweets to children.
Keep the original packaging
The pack carries the name, strength, expiry date and instructions. Avoid moving tablets into unlabelled boxes.
Check expiry dates regularly
Look through your medicine box every few months. Do not use expired medicines, and ask your pharmacist how to dispose of them safely.
